Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 part white granulated sugar Use plain granulated sugar; alternatives like honey are harmful.
  • 4 parts water Tap water is fine; ensure it's clean and fresh.

Method

Preparation
  1. Measure 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. For example, if you use 1 cup of sugar, mix it with 4 cups of water.
  2. Combine the measured sugar and water in a non-reactive saucepan.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the nectar to cool to room temperature.
  5. Fill the feeder with the cooled nectar and ensure it is capped tightly.
  6. Hang the feeder in a shaded area of your garden for best results.
  7. Refresh the nectar every 3 to 5 days, especially in hot weather. Clean the feeder with hot water.

Notes

Monitor the feeder regularly. Adjust the sugar-to-water ratio in colder months for extra energy.
