Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently, allowing them to mix in without breaking apart.
- If desired, sprinkle some of the decorations into the dough.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, allowing space between each for expansion.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough if cookies spread too much. Decorate with royal icing and sprinkles in school colors for personal touch. Store in airtight container.
