Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently, allowing them to mix in without breaking apart.
  7. If desired, sprinkle some of the decorations into the dough.
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, allowing space between each for expansion.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough if cookies spread too much. Decorate with royal icing and sprinkles in school colors for personal touch. Store in airtight container.
