Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 8 pieces tostada shells
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1 cup refried beans
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1 piece avocado, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place tostada shells on a baking sheet and lightly toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes, until they are crisp.
  2. Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell, covering each shell evenly for a satisfying base.
  3. Top each tostada with the shredded chicken, followed by the fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  4. Return the tostadas to the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt and the ingredients to warm through.
  5. Carefully remove them from the oven and adorn each tostada with dollops of sour cream, spoonfuls of salsa, and slices of fresh avocado.
  6. Adjust the flavor with salt and pepper to taste, and serve immediately for the best experience.
