Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound lean ground beef Can substitute with chicken, shrimp, or tofu
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free option
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves Key ingredient for flavor
For Rolling
  • 8-10 pieces rice paper wrappers

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the lean ground beef. Cook until browned.
  2. Drizzle in the soy sauce and hoisin sauce, stirring to combine.
  3. Mix in shredded carrots and chopped bell peppers. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  4. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Rolling
  1. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until pliable.
  2. Lay the wrapper flat on a clean surface and place spoonfuls of the beef and vegetable mixture at the bottom.
  3. Add a few fresh basil leaves on top. Fold the sides in and roll it up tightly.
  4. Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers.
Serving
  1. Serve the Thai Basil Beef Rolls fresh with dipping sauces such as soy sauce or spicy chili sauce.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the ground beef for 30 minutes before cooking. Try different vegetables for extra crunch, and consider serving with a peanut sauce or sweet chili sauce.
