Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or tenderloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces and season them lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Stir until the brown sugar is mostly dissolved.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add the steak pieces to the skillet in a single layer. Sear the steak for about 2-3 minutes, or until browned on all sides.
  3. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the seared steak then reduce the heat to medium-low.
  4. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and caramelize, coating the steak bites beautifully.
  5. Once done, serve the steak bites warm, garnishing with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Tenderize the steak by marinating in the soy sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes. Optionally, add red pepper flakes for spice or toss in vegetables for added nutrition.
