  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease and flour a bundt or tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually combine the flour mixture and milk with the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour. Mix on low speed until combined.
  6. Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 75 to 85 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.
Glazing
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and let it set before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts can be used for extra texture.
