  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • food coloring (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until smooth and light.
  3. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually combine this mixture into the wet ingredients until just blended.
  6. If desired, mix in food coloring for a colorful batter.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  2. Once done, let the cakes cool in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
  1. Once cooled, frost the cakes with your favorite frosting and add graduation-themed decorations.

Notes

For best results, pair with light beverages and consider serving with ice cream. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
