Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Add-ins and Toppings
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to substitute with other chips or dried fruits.
  • 1 cup colored sprinkles or icing for decoration

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and pale.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each one is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space for the cookies to spread.
  2. Sprinkle colored sprinkles on top or use icing to decorate the cookies as desired.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the edges are very lightly browned.
  4. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, consider chilling the cookie dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can also customize the cookies with different add-ins like nuts or fruits.
