Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract to infuse the mixture with flavor.
Mixing the Batter
  1. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until well combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
