Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Can use ground turkey or chicken as a substitute.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce For a gluten-free version, use tamari sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 cup cooked rice Use white or brown rice as preferred.
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes, draining any excess fat.
  2. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger to the beef. Stir well and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Steam the broccoli until bright green and tender, about 3 to 4 minutes. Cook the julienned carrots simultaneously.
Serving
  1. Place a generous portion of hot cooked rice in a bowl. Scoop the beef mixture over the rice and top with steamed broccoli and carrots.
  2. Garnish with finely chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Try different proteins like ground turkey, chicken, or tofu for a vegetarian option. Add heat with chili sauce or red pepper flakes. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
