Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 1 pound ground beef
For the Marinade
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
For Serving
  • 2 green onions chopped For garnish
  • as needed cooked rice For serving
  • as needed sesame seeds For garnish

Method

Cooking the Beef
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep the dish from being greasy.
Making the Marinade
  1. In a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Stir until the brown sugar dissolves completely to form a marinade.
  2. Pour the flavorful sauce over the cooked beef, stirring to coat all the meat. Allow it to simmer for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve the seasoned beef over rice, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra freshness, add bell peppers or broccoli while cooking the beef. Marinate the beef overnight for enhanced flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator or up to three months in the freezer.
