Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a separate bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper until blended smoothly.
  2. Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the honey garlic mixture over it, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.
Cooking
  1. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and tender.
  2. After cooking, remove the chicken and set it aside on a plate. Whisk together the cornstarch and water, then add it to the sauce in the slow cooker to thicken.
  3. Return the chicken to the pot, stir it in the thickened sauce, and serve garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the honey garlic mixture. Substitute chicken with tofu for a vegetarian option. Experiment with different types of honey for unique flavors. To save time, sauté the chicken in a skillet instead of using a slow cooker.
