  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water
  • 0.25 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • for garnish Fresh parsley (optional)

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add ground beef, and brown for about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Layer sliced potatoes over the beef, season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the potato layer.
  6. Pour beef broth or water around the edges of the baking dish.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until the top is browned and the potatoes are tender.
  9. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Customize the casserole with extra vegetables or different proteins as per preference. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
