Cake Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

  • Decorations (like fondant, edible markers, or diploma-shaped cake toppers)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly mixed.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and tap lightly to remove air bubbles.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool before frosting.
Decoration
  1. Frost the cooled cake with your choice of frosting and decorate creatively.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using almond or whole wheat flour and a natural sweetener like honey. You can also use egg substitutes like applesauce or flaxseed meal.
