Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and egg together until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add in the brewed coffee, buttermilk, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Caramel Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream.
  2. Stir constantly over medium heat until the mixture simmers.
  3. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, and set aside to cool.
