Preparation
- Marinate the chicken by soaking the pieces in buttermilk for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- In a bowl, mix flour with paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder for the breading.
Cooking
- Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off, then dredge the pieces in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Heat cooking oil in a large, deep skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 15-20 minutes, flipping once.
- Drain the cooked chicken on a wire rack or paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
For extra crispy coating, use a double-dip method by re-soaking in buttermilk and coating again in flour before frying. You can bake the chicken at 425°F (220°C) for a healthier option.
