  • 2 each Hinges and latches For doors to ensure they close securely.
  • 2 each Nesting boxes (wooden crates or built from scrap wood) Comfortable spots for hens to lay eggs.
  • 2 each Roosting bars (sturdy branches or lumber) For chickens to sleep safely off the ground.

Building Steps
  1. Choose a level location in your yard, avoiding direct sunlight and potential flooding.
  2. Clear the area and lay a stable foundation using concrete blocks or pressure-treated wood.
  3. Cut plywood to size for walls and flooring and secure the walls to the base with screws.
  4. Attach roofing material on top of the coop.
  5. Install nesting boxes off the ground for safety and cleanliness.
  6. Create roosting bars higher up inside the coop.
  7. Surround the coop with chicken wire for a secure, ventilated environment.
  8. Build a door that can be easily opened and securely fastened.
  9. Ensure proper ventilation holes are included, and consider painting for aesthetic purposes.
  10. After securing the coop, introduce your chickens and monitor their adaptation.

Notes

Consider insulating during colder months and adding solar-powered lighting to promote egg production. Regular maintenance and proper storage of feeds and tools are essential for the wellbeing of your chickens.
