- Marinate the chicken by placing the pieces in a bowl and covering them with buttermilk. Allow them to marinate for at least 1 hour.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
- Remove chicken pieces from buttermilk, allow excess to drip off, and dredge them in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Carefully place the coated chicken in the hot oil. Fry for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra crunch, double dip the chicken in buttermilk and flour mixture before frying. Serve with classic sides like coleslaw or in fried chicken sandwiches.
