Preparation
- Cook the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Sauce Preparation
- Lower heat and gradually stir in heavy cream, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired sauce consistency is achieved.
- Mix in grated Parmesan cheese and allow it to melt into the sauce.
Combine and Serve
- Add the cooked penne to the skillet, gently tossing to coat the pasta in the cream sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with milk or a non-dairy alternative. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
