Ingredients

Pasta and Meat Base
  • 8 oz penne pasta Can substitute with another pasta type.
  • 1 lb lean ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
Cream Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with milk or non-dairy alternatives.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use high-quality cheese for better flavor.
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp olive oil For sautéing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Sauce Preparation
  1. Lower heat and gradually stir in heavy cream, mixing until fully incorporated.
  2. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired sauce consistency is achieved.
  3. Mix in grated Parmesan cheese and allow it to melt into the sauce.
Combine and Serve
  1. Add the cooked penne to the skillet, gently tossing to coat the pasta in the cream sauce.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with milk or a non-dairy alternative. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
