- Slice the oranges into ¼-inch rounds, removing any seeds.
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer and add orange slices in a single layer.
- Simmer for 45 to 60 minutes, turning occasionally until peels are translucent and tender.
- Remove slices and place them on a wire rack to dry at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours.
Finishing Touches
- Optionally, roll dried slices in granulated sugar or dip in melted chocolate.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. In humid climates, refrigerate to maintain texture.
