Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces boneless chicken breasts Ensure they are of equal size for even cooking.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use Italian-style breadcrumbs for added flavor.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Freshly grated gives the best flavor.
  • 1 cup marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade, depending on preference.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For a gooey texture.
  • 1 piece egg Beaten, for coating the chicken.
  • Olive oil Olive oil For frying the chicken.
  • Salt and pepper Salt and pepper To taste.
  • Fresh basil Fresh basil for garnish Adds a fresh touch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper for optimal flavor.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and set it aside. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
Cooking
  1. Dip each seasoned chicken breast into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks.
  2. Heat a splash of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Once browned, transfer the chicken to a baking dish.
  4. Top each breast with marinara sauce and a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.
  6. For a touch of freshness, garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

To elevate your Chicken Parmigiana, consider adding Italian seasoning or garlic powder to the breadcrumbs. It can also be made gluten-free by using gluten-free breadcrumbs or crackers.
