  • 2 cups macaroni pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded Use leftovers or pre-cooked for convenience.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese You can mix different cheeses if desired.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter Use unsalted butter for better control of seasoning.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Breadcrumbs For topping, optional for added crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the macaroni pasta according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper and cook for 1-2 minutes until well blended.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to cook until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and mix until it is fully melted and incorporated into the sauce.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni and shredded chicken to the cheese sauce, and mix everything well to ensure even distribution.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for an added crunch.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of Chicken Mac and Cheese.

You can customize with different types of cheese or add vegetables like spinach or broccoli for extra nutrition.
