  • Water enough to cover the chicken Water Water should fully submerge the chicken.

  • 1 onion (quartered)
  • 3 cloves cloves of garlic (whole)
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 stalks stalks of celery (sliced)

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Place the whole chicken in a large pot and cover it with water, ensuring the chicken is submerged.
  2. Add salt, pepper, chopped onion, garlic cloves, bay leaf, sliced carrots, and celery to the pot.
  3. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, ensuring all the ingredients start to blend together.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot, allowing it to simmer gently.
  5. Cook for about 1 hour or until the chicken is fully cooked, meaning the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Remove the chicken from the pot and let it cool for a few minutes.
  7. Once it’s cool enough to handle, shred or chop the chicken as desired, and serve it warm or use it in other recipes.

Notes

To enhance the flavor, add herbs like thyme, parsley, or rosemary. Use the remaining broth as a base for soups or stews by straining it and saving it for later. Boiled chicken can be served in a variety of ways, such as in salads, tacos, or with rice and vegetables.
