Ingredients

For the prime rib
  • 1 whole Prime rib roast
  • 1 tbsp Salt Or to taste
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper Or to taste
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Fresh rosemary Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Thyme Fresh or dried
  • 2 cups Beef broth For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Season the prime rib generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh herbs.
  3. Rub olive oil over the meat for additional moisture.
  4. Place the roast in a roasting pan with the rib side facing down, then insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part.
Cooking
  1. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to achieve a nice crust.
  2. Reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to roast until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for medium-rare).
Serving
  1. After cooking, remove the roast from the oven and allow it to rest for 30 minutes to redistribute the juices.
  2. Serve with beef broth or alongside your favorite side dishes.

Notes

Allow your prime rib to rest at room temperature for about an hour before cooking for more even results. Use a digital meat thermometer for precise cooking. A homemade au jus or gravy from the drippings is recommended for a saucier dish.
