Preparation
- Preheat your grill to medium heat, roughly around 350°F.
- Rinse the chicken thoroughly under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and dried thyme to create a spice rub.
- Gently rub the spice mixture all over the chicken.
- Open the can of beer and take a few sips or pour out some to reduce it to about half-full.
- Carefully place the beer can inside the cavity of the chicken.
- Stand the chicken upright on the grill using the beer can for support.
Cooking
- Close the grill lid and cook the chicken for about 1 to 1.5 hours, aiming for an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Once finished, carefully remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For the best flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight. You can also experiment with different spices and beer types. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator, or frozen for up to three months. To reheat, warm it in the oven at 350°F.
