Method
Preparation
- Start by marinating the chicken in buttermilk. Cover the chicken pieces in buttermilk and let it sit for at least one hour or overnight for the best results.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
Cooking
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Cook for about 25-30 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through the cooking time. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Finishing Touch
- Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
Notes
For extra crunch, dip the flour-coated chicken back into the buttermilk and then back into the flour mixture again. Experiment with spices for different flavor profiles.
