Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces chicken (drumsticks or thighs)
  • 1 cup buttermilk Marinate the chicken for tenderness.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For coating the chicken.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray For additional crispiness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by marinating the chicken in buttermilk. Cover the chicken pieces in buttermilk and let it sit for at least one hour or overnight for the best results.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
  3. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through the cooking time. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Finishing Touch
  1. Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Notes

For extra crunch, dip the flour-coated chicken back into the buttermilk and then back into the flour mixture again. Experiment with spices for different flavor profiles.
